GULFCOAST Introduction to Critical Care Ultrasound 2020 (CME VIDEOS)
Introduction to Critical Care Ultrasound Online Course is intended for medical professionals with a need to perform point of care ultrasound (POCUS) examinations, specifically, in the critical care setting. This structured online course, provides a comprehensive review of critical care ultrasound topics taught by expert faculty. Hosted within the GCUS learning management system, this course features twelve (12) modules with video lectures, case studies, interactive quizzes, recommended readings, and more. Enrollment is valid for 12 months (365 days) and begins the moment the participant is enrolled. Extend your online course access another 3 months with the addition of an onsite hands-on workshop or registration for a regularly scheduled GCUS scan workshop.
OBJECTIVES
-Increase participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Critical care ultrasound examinations
-State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization of system controls.
-Perform ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST exam).
-Demonstrate image orientation, transducer placement, and scan protocols for performing thoracic ultrasound examinations for pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, Lung consolidation, and Covid-19.
-Outline scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen, aorta, and adult heart, and lower extremity DVT.
-Demonstrate image orientation, transducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound guided vascular access.
-Differentiate normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen and adult heart.
-State an algorithm for assessing causes of shock and hypotension using bedside ultrasound.
-Outline protocols for performing thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture.
-Increase competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical practice.
